Wintergreen plant has been used for respiratory conditions such as chronic mucous discharge but is mainly employed for joint and muscular pain relief from conditions such as lumbago, sciatica, neuralgia, gout, etc. Wintergreen is often added to liniments and ointments to help ease muscle and joint pains.

This pale yellow oil with an intense sweet-woody aroma should be diluted significantly before topical application – it would be a fine addition to any formulas for supporting joint and muscular aches and pains. Care must be taken to use Wintergreen in modest amounts and to always keep the oil away from children.

Tea Tree oil kills insects and fights infections and fungi.  It soothes skin disorders and heals wounds.  Tea tree oil releases mucus and relieves respiratory congestion.  It increases immunity.  Tea tree oil works well on a wide range of skin problems, including blemishes, rashes, and warts.  It fights acne without causing dryness or itching.  Tea tree oil also provides an effective treatment for fungal infection of the fingernails.

Spearmint is steam distilled from the flowering tops of the herb. The scent is refreshing and minty. It is a comforting scent that can be relaxing and help to relieve mental fatigue. It is slightly antiseptic and may be useful for minor skin eruptions. The properties of spearmint oil resemble those of peppermint but with a less powerful effect. It has been used for asthma, bronchitis, sinusitis, colic, flatulence, nausea, vomiting, colds, fatigue, headache, migraine, nervous strain, and stress.

Sage is a stimulating oil that helps to stimulate and balance the nerves and dispels tiredness and depression. Sage is excellent in aiding the memory. Use in massage oils for aches, pains, rheumatism and over-exercised muscles. Raises blood pressure. Steam for alleviating bronchitis, coughs, colds and other infections. Helpful during menopause, Sage helps control hot flashes, night sweats and balances the nerves. Maybe massaged on the tummy to help relieve painful menstruation. Avoid use when breastfeeding. Do not use on babies or young children, or during pregnancy, or if you have high blood pressure or are epileptic.
